Who Am I .. The Story You Tell Yourself

who am i

The question Who Am I is a frequently asked question.   But how do you find the answer to this question?  Is there even an answer to the question Who Am I?

Life is ever changing from the moment you are born until the day you take your last breath.   It is the nature of life to flow and change and along this journey the answer to Who Am I changes too.

In fact, the answer may change daily because of your thoughts around something.   Perhaps you had the most fantastic day on Saturday and feel alive, vibrant and ready to climb Everest.   But come Monday the blues hit again.  Perhaps the change of seasons sends you into a downward trend with your body aching for light and air but circumstances force you inside.

If someone asks you on a good day when nothing has triggered an old “not good enough” belief Who Are You?  you will likely answer from the energy that is present in you at that moment.

I am mother of two fantastic children, I work from home and am so lucky that I have the supports in place to do this

If, however, you are triggered by your partner’s actions, your children’s outburst or the contents of your freezer falling out on top of you, you will likely answer from this energy.   “Who am I?  Well, I am the one who does everything in this house, nobody listens to me, the kids never do what they are told, the house is a mess and I have no one to support me”.

A triggered outburst coming from your energy in the moment.

Which you is really you?   How can you possibly answer Who Am I?  Which story will it come from?

In this life you may not be healed of the disease, but you can be healed of its hold over you. -  Rev. Dr. Brent Hawkes

Maybe you could pause and think “How would I like to experience my life?”  I am who I am because of my previous stories but from now on I want to experience life from a joyful place from where I do my best with what I have, maybe some days will be hard and I know some days will be fantastic.

You can realise it is up to you which story you want to focus on or perhaps which story you want to react from.   There will always be circumstance you cannot change in your life but, you can certainly change the way you react to them.

DISCLAIMER:  “None of the above stories are my stories, I have a clean, well-kept house, well-mannered children who clean up their mess and my freezer is so organised I amaze myself”   (LAUGHS OUT LOUD) OR maybe that’s the experience I want to have!!!

Until next time … keep the faith,
