Celebrating Lughnasa

Celebrating Lughnasa

Lughnasa is a Celtic festival which marks the beginning of the Harvest Festival.   It is a time of new beginnings of allowing what has been sown and nourished over the last season to become grounded and manifested into form.

What we focus on, is what we reap.    However, it is never too late to start focusing on what really serves us.  When we give up the push and pull, the constant fight to get what we think we are entitled to, or the desires we feel that others should meet for us we become more in flow with life.  We soften and create space to expand.

Lugh, whom the festival is based around is the Sun God.   We all have our own internal sun and our own internal power.     It is situated in our third chakra or power center which is situated in our stomach area.

When we are going through this portal of Lughnasa we can create our own ceremony, ritual or whatever we wish to call it and align to this energy archetypically.

We can ask ourselves what it is we want to harvest more of in our life?  What powerful transformative energy do we want to step into?

When I speak about power it is our own personal power I am speaking to, the power we already have in our third chakra.

Do you feel free in your own power or do you feel you are being powered over by another?

We are each in control of the power centers of our own bodies, also known as chakras.   Whilst there may be things going on in our life that we have no control over, when we stay in the core energy of knowing ourselves we can stand in our personal power which is underlying everything we do.

There are no cracks in the universe, so we can’t fall into any!

An exercise to stand in the energy of Lughnasa.

Close your eyes and relax.

Breathe and allow your mind become clear of any mind talk.

Connect yourself with mother earth by imaging tiny roots growing out of the soles of your feet and going deep into the earth below.   Watch as these roots go down into the core of Mother Earth and engage with the Sun at the center of the earth.     Breath this energy up through your roots with your breath until it fills your entire body.

Ask yourself how you stand in relation to your personal power?   Do you feel free to do what it is you want to do?   Do you feel you are being powered over by another, if so what can you do to take your power back?   Do you need to put up some personal boundaries for how you allow people treat you, do you need to speak your mind to someone whom you feel is taking your power away?

Don’t force an answer, rather dance with whatever comes up for you.   Allow your ego “I AM” to take a break and allow your body to answer the question for you.   Soften into what comes up for you.

Spend as much time as you want here.   Journaling or simply writing down what comes up for you is a wonderful way to see the stories that are inside of you.    These are the stories that are manifesting your life.    If you want to change them, you can change your thoughts to ones that better serve you.

We create and act out of our stories every day, make sure your story is one that serves you.

Until next time .. keep the faith,
